Wilkins responds to Oregon's Swanson

Recently Oregon CR Chairman John Swanson lambasted candidate for KFCR Chairman and former CRNC and LI field rep Morgan Wilkins for her actions during the fall election season, and Wilkins has responded in kind to the statement. It looks like we could have a bit of a war of words on our hands here. First, Swanson's statement, followed by Wilkins' reply:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am clearly an outsider looking in – my relationship with KFCR officers in the past has been little more than brief conversations and the sharing of ideas. Maybe there is something I am missing in this equation, but based on what I have observed, I feel obligated to step up and voice my humble opinion.

In any political organization, there are 2 defining forces – those who make progress, and those who do not. Progress is made by carrying your message correctly, respectfully, and in a manner that convinces and attracts. I have every reason to believe that after Kentucky’s chapter growth and stable leadership, progress has occurred – and ought to be continued.

Progress is hindered when a message is either not carried out, or carried out improperly. Too often, College Republicans resort to unconvincing tactics to convey issues to their peers. It is always vital to judge your success based on the degree to which you grow the Republican Party – not the volume in which you shout at left-wing students. I was appalled to see that a representative of our national organization was using such immaturity – with blatant racism and seduction, evidence of which was apparent on several websites. I feel the College Republican National Committee is an organization of integrity, and the act of eliminating this loose cannon from payroll proved that the CRNC lives up to such a standard.

It is appalling to see that after jeopardizing the legitimacy of our organization, this same individual has gained momentum to become a state chair. I believe I speak for more state chairmen than just myself by saying that I have serious reservations to this. Delegates at the KFCR convention: Pretend you’re an HR manager, and you have 2 employees in front of you for 1 job. One was fired from a similar job for failure to perform adequately, and the other has a proven track record and recommended by a successful predecessor. The choice is clear – always aim for progress.

John Swanson
State Chairman, Oregon

John-
In your letter you claim that you are simply an "outsider" who is so troubled with the possibility of me becoming KFCR Chair that you feel the obligation to intervene. You also state several concerns that you have with me as a College Republican, and especially as a leader.

It is very unfortunate that we have never actually spoken to each other, and that instead of addressing me personally with your concerns, you resort immediately to writing a degrading letter on my opponent's facebook wall. Do you call that "progressive?"

You also say in your letter that "It is appalling to see that after jeopardizing the legitimacy of our organization, this same individual has gained momentum to become a state chair."

John, the legitimacy of the organization was not jeopardized by me, but by the person who signed deceitful fundraising letters two years ago; the person you voted for: our national chairman, Paul Gourley.

One event does not compare to the culture of corruption that took over the CRNC years before I even got involved, but one vote legitimizes it: your vote for Paul Gourley. And maybe this could be forgiven, but even today you continue to voice your support for someone who brought shame to our organization. Liberty has no time for moderates.

The KFCR is suffering in many ways that you, as an outsider, may not realize. I am currently working together with many College Republicans across the state to make this federation all that is should be. We are making significant progress.

If you would like me to fill you in on KY matters in more detail in the future, then please feel free to contact me personally.

Respectfully,
Morgan Wilkins

We can probably all guess who John's "brief conversations" have been with to cause him to form his "humble opinion" Keep it up Morgan, can't wait to see the look on their faces...

Anonymous said...

Swanson's comments were responsible, good material. Morgan just what the hell does Paul Gourley have to do with Kentucky? Do you really think CRs are oblivious to a total change in subject like that?

Anonymous said...

By now it should be clear to people that quitting RDI's contract was an error. If this national committee goes under, no state chair will ever be trusted on the CRNC's board of directors again.

Anonymous said...

Keep at them Morgan. We support you!

Anonymous said...

"The KFCR is suffering in many ways that you, as an outsider, may not realize."

Who is Morgan Wilkins to make a statement like that?

Does Morgan even go to school in Kentucky?

Anonymous said...

Ouch! It seems John Swanson needs to stay in his own state. We need more Morgans and less moderates in crnc

Anonymous said...

If it's a mortal sin to vote for Paul Gourley like Morgan's saying; why is she supporting Charlie Smith who was one of Gourley's top guys?

Anonymous said...

who says she's supporting Charlie Smith? she met with him but many people have met with Charlie that aren't supporting him.

Anonymous said...

Hey 11:46:00 PM are you a DUMBASS? She obviously goes to school in Kentucky if she is running for state chair. You are such a dumbass.

Anonymous said...

Nice Morgan-! I am impressed. You responded quickly and efficiently. I wish we had more people willing to speak out like this.

Like she said, Swansons concerns may be legit, but he should have come to her first. Not post something on her opponents facebook wall. Who does that?!

Also, note that Morgan not only met with Charlie, but with Brian Siler too. Meeting with someone doesn't equate to supporting them.

Anonymous said...

Wait, John needs to stay in his home state? How about, MORGAN leaves all these 50 facebook groups for CR elections in other state feds? How does that sound?

Anonymous said...

Person at 10:20 am: Morgan does not attend any college in KY. She said she graduated from JCC and would attend UofL...but her website says she is attending JCC, but has not been to class in a year...plus, the groups she claims to lead at JCC do not even exist. So what she says and does are two completely different things.

Charlie Smith for CRNC Chairman!

MorganWilkins said...

I am in school. I go to school 5 days a week actually. I am taking 16 hours. And actually, yes, my chapter most definitely exist. In fact, just today we did some things invovling Medicare.

I would love to know where you come up with this stuff. ha ha ha.

As a state chair, I agree with almost everything Swanson said. I think Wilkins does push the limit sometime, and in a manner that draws negative sentiment to our cause.
However, the one difference in myself and Mr. Swanson is that I know the KY race is none of my business. Why he thinks it is his right to throw in a hatchet job from the West Coast is beyond me...

Anonymous said...

You are not a state chair; you are an anonymous blog poster.

Anonymous said...

took the words right out of my mouth...if you had balls as a state chair you'd post your name...til then your just an anonymous blogger

btw I'm an anonymous blogger that just enjoys stirring up some debate

Anonymous said...

What a pussy state chair

Anonymous said...

that's inferring that he is a state chair...

I know for a fact that Morgan does to to school and has started the groups she says she has. I even attended "One Way", her bible study she started at JCC. You people are crazy!

I have questions that must be answered. I refer you to these two websites: http://www.morganwilkins.com/about.htm
http://www.jefferson.kctcs.edu/
administration/Programs/default.php

Morgan claims to be a political science major, except the JCC website does not list that as a major. Could she possibly mean plumbing, welding, or maybe zoo technologies (see above link).

Also, she claims to be a sophomore. However, JCC only offers an associates program. Clarification is needed. This means you can only go to school there for 2 years, unless you are lazy and take 4 years to complete a 2 year degree.

Thank you for consideration of these questions

Anonymous said...

If you go to the Jefferson KCTCS site, The College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom do not exist either...more explanation please?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone worry about her kid with all of her political exploits? Why didn't she come home and raise her kid when the CRNC fired her? Her website states that.

Anonymous said...

alright so I'm all about going on about facts and that crap...but leave her kid out of it.

Anonymous said...

not her kid personally, but priority. How in the hell can a college office take precidence?

Anonymous said...

Alright really lets leave the kid out of it. Lets stay on topic here. Lets here about the welding and plumbing programs at JCC.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, folks, Jefferson Community College does NOT have political science majors. It's a community college. You can't really major in anything. You can barely transfer the credits to a four-year state school.

Morgan has not attended a class in more than a year. Call up JCC and ask. The last year she was in school she took only ONE class the entire year-- and she ended up dropping it.

I suggest her opponent start digging around. Come to Louisville, Kentucky and start asking questions. Maybe talk to the Democrats, post some questions on bluegrassreport.org asking for more Wilkins info. You'll get all the dirt you'll ever need.

She's a liar and a fraud and she should be toast.

I can't say I'm a huge supporter of Morgan...but damn your ripping her apart...I wouldn't call her a fraud but hey to each their own.

I heard that she and Derek had dinner tonight. Are they allies now? I thought he was supporting her opponent.

Your children learned to walk in Birkenstocks.

You throw an aluminum can in the trash and feel guilty.

You complain about Californians as you sell your house to one for twice as much as you originally paid.

You only honk your horn if collision is imminent and never for anything else.

You consider something a "hill" (not a mountain) if it doesn't have snow on it or has not recently erupted, regardless of its altitude.

You consider "etiquette" a foreign word.

Most of your friends are from California.

You find a wallet with $500 and give it back to the owner.

You used to live somewhere else but won't admit it publicly.

You've ever ordered a half caff/decaf, nonfat mocha grande with sugar-free cranberry whip (or you know what it is).

You know a bride & groom that registered at REI.

If someone ran your car off the highway, you might drown.

You'd be miffed if the store was out of your favorite brand of water.

Every day is casual Friday.

Hear the word "ferry" and think of boats and long waits.

Know at least eight people who work for Intel or Nike, or used to work for Tektronix.

You think skiing always means being covered from head to toe, in snow or water.

Know that Boring is a town and not just a state of mind.

Have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.

You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.

You return from a California vacation depressed because “all the grass was dead.”

Remember the date, severity, time of day, where you were, and how long you were out of power and phone service for every winter weather event in the last five years.

Have ever called your insurance agent to ask if your homeowner’s policy covers falling trees, flooding, or mud slides

You never go camping without waterproof matches, ponchos, and mattress pads that double as flotation devices.

You believe swimming is not a sport but a survival skill to prevent boating deaths.

You own more than 10 articles of clothing that have the names of microbreweries/brewpubs printed on them.

You think downtown is "scary" because you were panhandled there, once.

You replace your hiking boots with Birkenstock or Teva sandals when the weather gets above 60 degrees.

You believe people who use umbrellas are wimps or Californians, or both.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Oregon.

I want Hall to lose, I want Morgan to lose. Any way we can find someone else to run for KFCR chair?

In talking to Derek the other day, he is still very much behind Wray in this race.

From what I know of Michael Wray, he is a pretty independent leader. There is no fake to him, and he has led UofL to being one of the strongest CR chapters in the state.

I am a sophmore at JCC. I am getting my associates and transferring to UofL, like many people do. Just how Micheal Wray went to ECC for two years and then transferred to UofL. The only time I have not been in school was last fall when I worked for CRNC. Other than that I have taken more than 12 hours every semester. Am I going to have to post my transcript on here? haha.

And yes, like someone said, JCC is a two year school. Which is exactly why we have a program called ULtra (UofL Transfer) program where you go on to get your 4-year degree from the university. In fact, many of the same teachers teach the exact same courses at JCC and UofL. I really like the system actually.

And am I going to have to post my members names and contact information for my CR chapter? haha.

I am convinced that you all are really crazy!

The fact that you are getting "facts" from bluegrassreport.org, a website run by one of the most well-known leftist in KY, is bizarre.

Let's see, did that answer everything? hahaha.

And to address the issue of my son: To suggest that my state chair postion is more important to me than he is, is absurd. I don't think I need to say much more about that. All I will say is that my son and I are blessed to have such a big, loving, supportive family who is always happy to help. My son, Jonathan, is very happy and extremely well taken care of, but thanks for the concern. :-)

Swanson is a jerk. He probably knows he can't control Morgan and that's why he's senidng out press releases. Stay in Oregon lol Like we need a Republican from OREGON telling us what we need to do. We might as well take advice from the USSR College Republicans too.

Anonymous said...

Leave Morgan's personal life out of this. She has a son, yes, and that is a testament to her pro-life positions. The majority of you people who are "pro-life" probably would not even had the child.

Anonymous said...

Morgan, do you ever get tired of the mudslinging?

Anonymous said...

Morgan get tired of mudslinging? Are you kidding? She is the one who gets attacked and kindly offers a rebuttal.

I love when CRs from the most liberal areas of the country try to get involved.

Anonymous said...

mudslinging? looks like good questions to me. it shows priorities and interest. especially when many of her claims are unfounded. her facebook group posts sling some mud at wray. morgan has done most of this to herself and ky crs need to know the type of personality who wants to lead them. words are great, but her extreme actions speak volumes.

Anonymous said...

Keep your head up Morgan. You always tell me, "Dont let other people's opinions determine how you feel about yourself." So, make sure you listen to your own advice.

Do any of you who have posted bad comments about Morgan actual know her on a personal level? Speak up if you do but I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

I know her pretty well, she is a nice person, but I think she lacks political maturity

Anonymous said...

"Do any of you who have posted bad comments about Morgan actual know her on a personal level?"

Look that's the PROBLEM with the national CRs in this day and age. People get this whiff of celebrity, look at me! my title is badass!, and the next thing you know they're tearing into other Republicans and acting as though they personally have these unassailable leadership qualitiies and that their opponents don't. Real leadership means not calling your opponent a "moron" just because he isn't in a rush to debate you.

Anonymous said...

This was posted on facebook today by John Knowles.

"I want to tell you about Morgan Wilkins.

Morgan was in Michigan doing exemplary work during my campaign for State Representative here in Michigan's 69th District. After the events leading to her departure from the CRNC, Morgan remained in Michigan for a brief time before returning home.

Some would have descended into depression or despair -- Morgan did the opposite. She called me and my campaign manager and asked if she could spend her last few days in Michigan working for my campaign. She went out by herself, door to door, passing out literature, and obtaining yard sign locations. She had less of a stake in my campaign than nearly anyone, yet she poured her heart into it as if it was her own. She earned by respect and continued interest as her story has continued away from Michigan.

This outstanding young woman emboddies the purest and noblest aspirations of the Conservative Movement and my prayer is that the College Republicans of Kentucky will make the right choice."

Haven't you all seen her racist picture...her holding a sign saying "Isn't the front of the bus enough" That is pretty far out there if you ask me. It seems all of her good work was done in Michigan, and when she was homeless and fired, she did not come back to Kentucky to fight, she stayed away from Kentucky. Now she wants to lead the KFCR when all she has done is Michigan work...why not go back to Michigan and run there? Morgan, get out of the race in KY, you have done little but cause a headache in KY.

Hahaha, funny ass posts on here. Brent and Brian are too much of pussies to announce a national chair run. Charlie Smith will win.

This reform nonsense is going nowhere. The only way to save the CRNC is to rehire RDI or the legacy of these fifty state CR chairs will be to have taken the strongest youth organization in the world and wrecked it like drunk drivers. By revoking RDI's contract, they have turned the CRNC into dust in less than two years. Their resolutions, phone conferences and meetings will accomplish squat except to boost their egos as our inevitable bankruptcy draws closer.

This whole shit just proves why college students can't be trusted to run a multi-million dollar corporation.

CRNC politics is unique; there are always things for you to be pissed off about. The challenge is: making sure you're pissed off about the right things. We need to make certain that no half-rate, fourth tier fundraising company is holding us back as we head into the 2008 presidential elections. THAT you should be pissed off about.

Everyone check out that New CNRC CPAC Event that the Smith campaign is putting on (just search for it, its open to all). The picture features many state chairs including Luna, McTiernan (her fiance), Miccarelli, and others. Is that the new team? Apprently the "New CRNC" Team is inviting all CRs to the open bar event. Hmmm...I wonder what they talked about in CA.

Morgan seems to be quite the opportunist.

First, she goes all crazy for border security and makes news for her illegal immigration event. Thats fine, nothing is wrong with that.

But then, she starts working for Students for Brownback. Umm...Morgan...Amnesty Sam is one of the biggest proponents of open-borders, higher visa numbers, in-state tuition for illegals, and amnesty. How can you possibly work for someone you so greatly disagree with?

Then, she changes her facebook profile picture to one of her and Tom Tancredo at CPAC.

I just can't understand why she's working for Brownback. Surely its not just for pro-life rubbish like the rest of his workers. Brownback is not the only candidate with a solid pro-life record - he's just the only one who talks about it 24/7. However, thats because he sucks on everything else.
